Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy

Pelvic Floor Physical Therapists specialize in pelvic dysfunction, treating both men and women.  Theclick here buttony can help solve pelvic floor issues when gynecologists, obstetricians, urologists and other doctors can’t. Many people suffer with pelvic floor dysfunction, which may be caused from muscles that are too tight or too relaxed. The pelvic floor muscles attach to the front, back and sfemaile pelvic floor getty imageides of the pelvic bone and sacrum. They are like a sling that supports the bladder, uterus, prostate and rectum. They also wrap around your urethra, rectum, and vagina (in women). These muscles must be able to contract to maintain continence and relax to allow for urination, bowel movements, and in women, sexual intercourse. When these muscles are too tight or too relaxed you may have the following symptoms:

  • Urinary frequency, urgency, hesitancy, stopping and starting of the urine stream, painful urination, or incomplete emptying
  • Constipation, straining, pain with bowel movements
  • Unexplained pain in your low back, pelvic region, hips, genital area, or rectum
  • Pain during or after intercourse, orgasm, or sexual stimulation
  • Pelvic floor muscle spasms

Our Pelvic Floor Physical Therapists help to relieve pelvic floor dysfunction. They will also assess your ability to contract and relax muscles as well as assess your bones and muscles of your lower back, hips and Sacroiliac joints as they work in concert with your pelvic floor muscles.
